1. What are the differences
between PVC card IDs and laminate IDs?
PVC card IDs must be printed using a photo ID printer with special printing technologies.
Laminate IDs can be printed from any inkjet or laser printer on our 40lb. photo-quality
paper stock and then laminated using a laminator and laminates. PVC card IDs result
in better image quality in turn giving your organization a sharper representation.
PVC card IDs are much more durable than a laminate ID, lasting up to 20 times longer.
Laminate IDs make great special event badges that will look professional for short-term
use.
2. Why should I choose
the PVC card printer over the laminate ID system?
Any of our PVC card printers print at a rate of 20-40 seconds per card, depending
on whether it's a single or dual-sided card being printed. The speed of these systems
saves you time and labor costs. Each laminate ID would need to be printed through
an inkjet or laser printer, punched out of its perforated sheet by hand, folded
and then sent through a laminator. PVC cards IDs look and feel very professional.
The image quality and the ability to add security features make these cards unique
and very hard to duplicate. The lifetime of the PVC card is 20 times longer than
the laminate ID, again saving time and labor costs. Inkjet and laser printer ink
cartridges will also need to be replaced frequently when printing the laminate IDs;
something else to think about with large-run card productions.
3. What should my ID look
like?
Depending on your organization, the look of your ID will vary. Most IDs have a picture
for visual security and the badge holder's name and position within the organization.
Using our ID Maker software adding color, font style and your logo is quick and
easy. The more you personalize your ID, the harder it will be to duplicate making
your organization safe and secure. For your industry-specific needs, click

4. What system will work
best for my needs?
5. I ran out of supplies
for my system/printer, how do I know which ones to re-order?
Use our id card printer supplies locator to locate all of the correct
supplies for your system/printer. If you are printing dual-sided cards with color
on both sides, you will need to remember that each side counts as 1 print, so a
YMCKO ribbon that offers 200 prints, will only print 100 dual-sided cards. We also
offer a YMCKOK ribbon for dual-sided cards that will have only black ink on one
side. A YMCKOK ribbon offering 200 prints will print 200 dual-sided cards with black
ink only on one side and full-color on the other.
6. What do I need to make
sure my IDs are visible?

reel. Depending on whether or not you'd like to punch a hole in your ID, you may
need a slot punch. Click here to see our

to secure the ID to the holder. We do offer, however, slot-free options for displaying
your ID. Check out our

incorporated with the badge holder.

system. Most retractable reels extend up to 36 inches, making your ID easily accessible
and visible at the same time. You can even customize your badge reels with your

do I need?
Depending on your printer/system the number of prints per ribbon varies. Go to this

with color on both sides, you will need to remember that each side counts as 1 print,
so a YMCKO ribbon that offers 200 prints, will only print 100 full-color dual-sided
cards. We also offer a YMCKOK ribbon for dual-sided cards that will have color on
