As long as your ID card printer is cleaned on a regular basis (we suggest a cleaning with every ribbon change), and well-taken-care-of, you can expect your printer to last 7 – 10 years. The technology of our ID Maker® PVC card printers is always improving. This means that the ID printer is able to run a diagnostic test which will then let you know if the printer needs to be cleaned between ribbon changes or that your printer ribbon has a small number of prints left.

There is not a limit to the number of student or personnel records that you can store in the ID Maker™ Essential, Professional, or Enterprise databases.

You absolutely can use your logo, or any other artwork that you’d like on your ID badge. The ID Maker™ software that is included with our ID Maker™ ID card printer systems will allow you to import any logos or images that you have saved to your computer. Once your logo or artwork is imported into the software, you can then crop and drag and drop them to appear anywhere you want them on your card.

The number of printer ribbons you’ll need depends on the number of cards you plan to print and whether they are single- or dual-sided ID cards. You can find information about the number of prints each ribbon is good for on the ribbon’s product information page.

Some ID card printers have a sticker on the inside that will tell you which supplies you can use in your printer. One additional option for ordering your ID printer system supplies is to visit our system supplies page and sort the supplies based on the brand you need. If you don’t see a sticker inside your printer or can’t locate your supplies on the site (or if you just prefer to talk to a live person to place your order!), feel free to contact an IDville System Specialist at 1.866.438.4553 and they’ll be happy to help make sure you get the right supplies for your system.

On average the cost for a single-sided ID badge is about $0.61 and the average cost for a dual-sided card is around $0.98 – this cost includes ALL consumables needed to create your IDs. Keep in mind that because we offer quantity discounts if you buy a larger number of supplies, your cost per card may go down when you purchase your supplies in bulk.

You can certainly combine door access and photo identification in one card. There are different options to make this work. One is that printable PVC access cards can be run right through your ID Maker™ ID card printer. Another option is to print adhesive plastic cards with your identification information and adhere it to your existing clamshell proximity cards. This second option allows you to peel off an old ID to reuse the access card in the case of employee turnover. Both are great options to combine door access with your photo ID card so that you don’t have to carry multiple cards.

You have a couple of different options if you’d like to use your single-sided ID card printer to print dual-sided ID badges.

If the back of all ID badges will be the same, your first option is to take time to pre-print the back side of your ID cards in advance and then go back to print the front side at a later date. This option does save you money in the short term, but keep in mind that the more contact you have with the ID card the more that the elements added to the card from your fingers (dirt, dust, oil, lint) will wear on the print head and the printer itself. When using a single-sided printer to print dual-sided ID badges, we highly recommend cleaning the printer more often than you typically would.

A second option to create dual-sided badges with your single-sided printer is to upgrade your IDville ID Maker™ printer with a field upgrade ribbon that will convert your printer to dual-sided printer. This is a one-time purchase that will allow you to print dual-sided ID badges for the remainder of your printer’s lifespan.

PVC plastic ID cards don’t come with a hole pre-punched in them. All ID cards that are printed with our PVC card printers must print to an ID that has no holes in them and are flat and smooth over the entire face of the card. If you try to print to an ID that has a hole in it you will severely damage your printer. The hole or slot will need to be punched in the card after printing OR we offer ID badge accessories you can use without punching holes in your cards.

While our software is not Mac compatible out-of-the-box, ID Maker™ 3.0 will successfully run on Mac programs like Boot Camp or Parallels. Boot Camp is a free program installed on every new Mac that is sold. Your custom lanyard order can be placed online using our Lanyard Creator Tool. This is a simple 4-step tool to help you customize your lanyards to add the colors, logo, and text that you need!

We offer customizable lanyards for various timelines and budgets. The production time of custom lanyards varies based on the lanyard type you choose. In Step 1 of the lanyard creator tool each different type of lanyard highlights the production time needed before shipping your custom lanyards.

We’ll need a copy of your invoice included with unwanted product and recommend returning with a trackable method like
UPS, FedEx, or USPS Express Mail. That way, if the status of your return is ever in question, we can confirm your
package was successfully delivered to our location.

Please Note: Returns of custom (items including your logo or artwork) and personalized (items that you’re your choice
of stock setup options) merchandise are not accepted unless authorized by a Baudville Representative.
