You can install your own fonts via a Microsoft font installation file. Once the desired font is downloaded to your computer, you may right-click the installation file and select "Install for all Users".
- The printer is printing a white box instead of a picture: When printing a badge design from IDMaker 3.0, please ensure you are in the "2. Data Entry" tab of the software. Next, make sure the preview card in the center is displaying as intended. Finally, click "Print Card" and select your IDMaker printer to print the badge.
- Cancelling your current print job: Navigate to your computer's Control Panel and select "View Devices and Printers". Then, right-click on the IDMaker printer. In the dialogue box, select "See What's Printing". Then right-click on the document and select "Cancel Print Job".
- Clear the print queue in Windows 10: Open your Settings application (Can be opened from the Start menu or with the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + i ). Go to Devices, then select Printers and Scanners. Click on your IDMaker printer from the printer list, and click “Open queue”. Within the queue window, if there are print jobs listed, click “Printer” and then “Cancel All Documents” to clear the queue.
When you download and launch the software for the first time, you can start a free trial without a registration key by selecting the free trial option.
The registration key is required for the purchased version and will be required when the free trial runs out.
The free trial does not require you to create an account on idville.com or within the software. You are also not required to give a credit card number.
- Installation: IDMaker 3.0 can be downloaded by clicking the 'Download the Latest Version of IDMaker' image above. Installation (outside of a free trial) will require your registration key.
- Switching Computers: Download the software to your new computer and use your registration key to complete the installation. Our Technical Support team can help you 're-link' your existing projects as long as you have saved all of the IDMaker Project files and images you were using to the new computer.

How do I disable the username and password?
- Open ID Maker 3.0, open a project file.
- Go to the top left corner and click the ID Maker logo button.
- Go to “Tools” and select “Edit Users” from the tools menu.
- This will give you the option to enable, disable, or add users to the password functionality of the software.
- While trying to print a card: If this is occurring, please be sure you are using the latest version of the IDMaker 3.0 software.
- When uploading a photo: When uploading a photo the software can crash under a few circumstances: 1) When browsing for a photo, if you search for the photo by name using the top right search bar. The workaround is to use the “File Name” search at the bottom of the browse window. 2) If the folder the picture is saved in or the picture name has any special characters. The picture should be renamed with no special characters. 3) If the jpg or png file is corrupted, the file needs to be removed and re-created or re-imported. 4)If the software is out of date.

IDMaker™ 3.0 was built for the Windows operating system.
It can successfully run on Mac programs like Boot Camp or Parallels.
- IDMaker 3.0 failed to import the specified database: This error occurs when there is an issue with importing the .CSV or .TXT file as a database. Here are some general reasons why it may be failing to import: A) The .CSV or .TXT file is still open in a different program, such as Microsoft Excel. Close the file and try again. B) There are not a proper number of headers in Row 1. Make sure every column that has data has a header. C) If the .CSV file has been modified by Microsoft Excel (or is being converted from a spreadsheet) save the file as a .CSV (MS-DOS). D) If there is any data in a cell outside of the columns with headers that is not supposed to be there, it will prevent the .CSV file from importing.
- Creating a Database: check out our how-to videos for complete instructions.
- The same name appears on every card: This typically occurs when the name is typed into the “1. Template Design” tab of the software, and not the “2. Data Entry” tab of the software.
To correct this, follow these instructions:
- Go to the “1. Template Design” tab, highlight the name that is appear on every card
- Click the “Text” button, then select “Insert”, then select “Data field text”
- Insert the data field text corresponding to the name. Such as “FNAME” for first
name or “LNAME” for last name. - The field should appear on the card in a dotted box. Once this is there, go back to the “2. Data Entry” tab and the names should be filling onto the card properly.
If you are connecting a camera and it is not working with IDMaker 3.0, it is most likely because the camera is being utilized by other software on your computer and is not connecting to IDMaker 3.0. Contact your Company's technical support first. If they cannot resolve this issue, please reach out to our technical support team.
You can use any camera (even your smart phone) and upload the picture(s) into IDMaker 3.0.
1. Color quality issues are likely due to the printer's color settings. How to change the color correction setting on your ID Maker Apex, Edge, Secure, Advantage, or Value printer:
- Open the ID Maker 3.0, select the badge you wish to print
- Click “Print Card”
- Select your ID Maker printer, click “Preferences” instead of “Print”
- Within the Preferences window, select the “Image” tab
- There will be drop down titled “Color Correction.” If you are unhappy with the default option, we suggest trying “None” or “Color Management (which is built into the driver)”
- Click “OK” and then “Print”
- If you are unhappy with the color of the badge, repeat these steps to test the other Color Correction options to find the best one for you.
- Once complete, follow the steps below for making your preferred settings your default.
To change the contrast and brightness (heat of printer) on your ID Maker Primacy, Infinity, or Zenius:
- Open the badge you wish to print
- Click “Print Card” to open the printer dialogue window
- Select the printer, then select "Preferences”
- Within the Preferences window, changing the Contrast and the Brightness will change how hot to printer prints. Higher causes the printer to print hotter, and lower causes the printer to print cooler.
- Generally we do not recommend going above 15 or below 5. For your issue, we normally try and normalize the temperature by going warmer (we recommend starting at 12, and then try again at 14.) Once you have the settings select, click “OK”
- Click “Print”
2. Photo quality matters; if the photos are blurry, we recommend reviewing your photo capture process. Typically, adding a light and having the camera closer to the subject will increase the quality. If the photos are the incorrect color, you would want to change the “Color Correction” setting in printer preferences on your computer (see #1 above).
3. A yellow border is printing on the cards: make sure you have the latest print driver installed and do a printer cleaning.
4. A black stripe down the right side: Please call our technical support to troubleshoot this issue.
5. White line down the center of the card: This usually means the printhead was damaged. If your printer is still under warranty, this repair may be covered. Please contact our technical support group for an accurate diagnosis.
6. Faded Prints:
- The printhead may not be applying enough heat to the ribbon. To increase printhead power settings, first go to the control panel on your Windows computer. Then select the option Printers and Devices. A list of printers should be displayed. Right-click on the IDMaker printer and select printer preferences. A window should appear with some options; select 'image options'. Change color correction to Gamma 2 (if it isn’t selected already). Next to the printhead power, click 'options'. In the options window, change YMC to 60 and resin to 60. Save all settings and attempt another print (Make sure to double-check settings in case they did not apply). If there is no improvement in quality, repeat the previous steps, adding 5 to the previous value set until a maximum of 75.
- Verify that you are using the correct power supply.
- Double-check that the overlay layer is enabled in the print driver.
If your photos are sideways, IDMaker 3.0 is not reading the photo file’s data properly. You can work around this issue by modifying the file in Microsoft Paint. Follow the instructions below on how to perform this:
- Within ID Maker 3.0, click “Browse” for the photo
- Locate the photo file you wish to import, right-click it and select “Edit”
- This will open the photo in Microsoft Paint. Click “Save” in Microsoft Paint. Close Microsoft Paint.
- Select and import the photo file, it should import with the proper rotation now.
This most commonly occurs when you are attempting ot open an ID Project file in an older version of ID Maker 3.0. Please download the latest version of ID Maker 3.0 above.

- Create a card template

- And so much more!
- How can I change the format to the template design if it is locked? To "unlock" the element, you must first select that element and click on the "Unlock" button that is located in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
- Can I change the shape of a picture on the card? Unfortunately, you cannot change the shape of the picture in IDMaker 3.0.
- Can I save and share templates with someone? IDMaker 3.0 projects can be shared. To do this, you need to share the .idproject file, as well as, any external backgrounds, logos, or fonts that have been added to the card.
To add a signature field to a badge within ID Maker 3.0:
- Open ID Maker 3.0, open your ID Project file
- Click on the “2. Data Entry” tab of the software
- Click the “Add/Remove Fields” button near the top
- At this point you add “Signature” under “Image Fields
- Once you have the datafield(s) added that you desire, click “OK”
- Return to the “1. Template Design” tab of the software to add the “Signature” to the card located under “photo”, then “insert”
- Make sure when adding to link the Signature to the Signature data field
- Click “Text” then “Insert” then "Datafield” text
- Be sure to save your changes once you are complete
- Saving a project: You can save a project by clicking on the "Save Disk" icon at the top left. You can also do this by selecting the blue button with the IDville logo on the top right. From there, select the "Save" option from the drop-down list.
- Unable to open the project file. This file cannot be opened. This error typically occurs when attempting to open an ID Project file on an old version of ID Maker when the file has been modified by a newer one. To resolve this issue, download and install the latest version of ID Maker 3.0 (linked above) on every computer that uses the software. Once the latest version is installed, open the ID Project file.
- Lost data recovery: All IDMaker 3.0 files are stored locally, as long as they have not been deleted, your Company's IT department should be able to help you.
- Removing old projects: this can be done, but if done improperly, it may cause issues. Please give us a call!
- "Failed to initialize file path":
- This may means the file has either been removed or moved to a new file path.
- Sometimes this also happens when the application is not run as an administrator after installation. Right-click on the program shortcut and select “Run as Administrator,” and the program should load properly. This only needs to be performed for the first run of the software; it can be run as a standard user from then on.
